Bamboo Installation at GRAND TOKYO NORTH TOWER’s Sky Lobby

A stunning bamboo installation has been unveiled at the sky lobby on the 17th floor of the GRAND TOKYO NORTH TOWER, located at Tokyo Station’s Yaesu Exit. This vibrant space serves as the main entrance to an office building housing numerous companies, bustling with employees and visitors throughout the day.

The installation is designed to highlight the unique sense of weightlessness and panoramic views that only a high-rise can offer. It also creates a welcoming environment, encouraging natural interactions and the flow of people and ideas.

Bamboo was chosen for its remarkable versatility, capable of expressing both clean straight lines and elegant curves. The material itself offers a palette of natural colors: the outer surface shines in matcha green, while the inner surface, when split, reveals a soft warbler green. Over time, as the bamboo dries, its hues gradually shift, adding depth and character to the design.

This installation takes full advantage of bamboo’s unique properties, creating a visually captivating piece that blends intricate forms with a vibrant spectrum of greens. It’s a harmonious fusion of nature and design, bringing a serene yet dynamic presence to the heart of this urban hub.
