plantica's "Nomadic Ikebana" Greets Visitors at Huis Ten Bosch Flower Festival Foyer

As a guest artist for the 2015 “Flower Grand Festival” at Huis Ten Bosch (Sasebo, Nagasaki), plantica designed installations across four rooms in the “Palace Huis Ten Bosch.” This report details the “Nomadic Ikebana” works exhibited in the Foyer.

Located in the main entrance hall of Palace Huis Ten Bosch, the Foyer installation featured plantica’s signature “Nomadic Ikebana” series. With the intention of playfully challenging conventional perceptions of floral art, plantica introduced a style that fused fresh flowers with elements of street art. This created a casual, subculture-infused installation that stood in striking contrast to the Foyer’s formal, European-style ambiance.

Exhibition Theme: Nomadic Ikebana
“To not settle for the traditional etiquette and forms of Kadō (Ikebana), but to drift, wander, and continuously seek unknown expressions. To not merely decorate flowers beautifully in conventional places and spaces, but to cast flowers into new worlds and allow them to exist resiliently. Our ‘Nomadic’ journey with flowers has just begun.”

Exhibition Components:
One large-scale Ikebana arrangement utilizing driftwood, coppice wood, and fresh flowers.
Ten gauze fabric panels onto which photographs from the “Nomadic Ikebana” series were transferred.
